The defect

The trailing arm of the rear torsion crank axle can break as a result of damage caused from impact to the vehicle such as a rear-end collision, or impact with the edge of a curb.

The hazard

If the damaged trailing arm breaks, this, in some cases, may lead to immediate loss of vehicle control, posing an accident hazard to the driver and other road users.

The remedy

A letter is being sent to affected owners of the vehicles. For further information, customers can contact their local Volkswagen Authorised Service Centre or contact Volkswagen Customer care on 1800 607 822.
