The defect

If the engine misfires for a prolonged period of time, the exhaust could get hotter than normal and melt a retention clip that supports the rear brake line increasing the risk of brake line damage.

The hazard

If the rear brake line becomes damaged, the rear brakes may fail and cause an accident.
