The defect

A poor quality weld between the drum and end plate sections of the fuel tank could crack, resulting in a fuel leak.

The hazard

If fuel comes into contact with a heat source, it may ignite, resulting in an engine fire that may cause serious injury or death of vehicle occupants and/or other road users.

The remedy
