The defect
Due to a manufacturing error, in certain conditions internal circuits may be triggered, resulting in the vehicles keyless operating system shutting down. As a result the engine cannot be started, the doors or tailgate cannot be locked or unlocked (by remote control) and the steering cannot be locked or unlocked.

The hazard
If the vehicle stalls in traffic and fails to restart this poses an accident hazard.
The remedy
Mitsubishi will replace the keyless operating systems electronic control unit.
