The defect

The automatic transmission fluid cooler hose may have been improperly cured during the manufacturing process, thereby increasing the possibility of transmission fluid leaking from the hose.

The hazard

Leaking transmission fluid may result in the illumination of the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) and/or abnormal transmission shifting. Depending upon the amount of transmission fluid lost, reduced vehicle mobility may occur, increasing the risk of an accident.

The remedy

Consumers should contact their preferred Kia dealer to schedule an appointment to have their vehicles automatic transmission cooling lines replaced.
