The defect

On some units, the circlips securing the passenger footrest pivot pins may be brittle due to a manufacturing defect.

The hazard

This may cause the circlip to fail allowing the pivot pins to come out of position and the footrest to detach while riding. This creates a potential accident hazard for the rider.

The remedy

Kawasaki will have contacted customers and been advised of the recall and referred to an authorised repairer.
