The defect

Computer software for the Power Control Module (PCM) is faulty. In certain circumstances this may affect cruise control and the possible locking of speed or cause acceleration of the vehicle.

The hazard

If the driver does not shift to neutral or apply the brakes to stop the vehicle this condition can cause a vehicle crash without warning.

The remedy

Consumers will be contacted by mail advising them to schedule an appointment with their nearest Chrysler Jeep Dodge dealer for repair. The dealer will inspect the software levels of the PCM and Transmission.
