The defect

The software installed on the engine management unit (ECU) may cause premature ignition, that can result in the engine stalling and with the possibility of a fire.

The hazard

If the engine suddenly stalls when the vehicle is at high speed this could increase the risk of an accident and injury to a vehicle occupant or other road users. In the event of a serious accident there is a risk of death.

The remedy

Hyundai Motor Company of Australia will notify affected owners by mail and invite them to take their vehicles to an authorised Hyundai dealership to have the ECU software updated.Affected owners can find their nearest dealer by visiting https://www.hyundai.com.au/dealerFor further information, consumers can contact Hyundai's Customer Care Centre on 1800 186 306.
