The defect

Oil may leak through the seal surrounding the engine oil sump. Prolonged oil leakage may result in engine damage and sudden stalling at high speed.

The hazard

If the engine suddenly stalls when the vehicle is at high speed this could increase the risk of an accident and injury to a vehicle occupant or other road users. In the event of a serious accident there is a risk of death.

The remedy
