The defect

The recall is for the replacement of the brake lamp switch for all Sonata models manufactured within the VIN range listed above.Hyundai Motor Company Australia Pty Ltd have advised that the component mentioned has a high probability of experiencing open circuit which will result in the stop lamp failing to illuminte when the service brake is applied. As a result of this there is a potential risk that motorists following may be unaware of the vehicles intention to slow down or stop, resulting in a rear end collision.
