The defect

The clutch assembly may overheat as a result of excessive clutch slip. This condition could cause the clutch pressure plate to crack and/or fracture, which could damage the transmission assembly, allowing transmission fluid to leak.

The hazard

Leaking of transmission fluid in the presence of an ignition source can lead to an engine compartment fire.

The remedy

Ford will write to owners of all affected vehicles. Owners are advised to contact their nearest authorised Ford Dealership for inspection and rectification.For further information, contact any authorised Ford Dealership or Ford’s Customer Relationship Centre on 1800 503 672.
